Christy Ferer Recommends Ways to Balance Your Personal and Professional Lives on Twitter

Twitter is a great social media platform for people to connect with friends and develop their brand. However, since Twitter is public,  it is important to always maintain a balance between your personal and professional lives. Christy Ferer, has figured out how to maintain a fun yet public-facing Twitter account. Here are a few tips to help balance these two worlds on Twitter.

1.     Understand that Twitter is public: The first step to finding that balance is to accept that anything you say on Twitter can be publicly viewed by a potential client, employer, partner, or colleague.
2.     Don’t be a robot: You should still be a very conscious version of yourself in order to let other people get to know you.
3.     Avoid sensitive topics: Certain topics shouldn’t be discussed on your general Twitter account if it is going to harm your brand/company.

Christy Ferer Shows How Twitter's New DM Can Be Beneficial for Brands

Social Media provides brands with many different ways to engage with consumers. CEO of Vidicom, Christy Ferer, thinks that Twitters new direct message option will increase consumer interaction for brands. The new option allows users to opt in to receive direct messages from anyone,  regardless whether that person follows you back or not. She agrees that consumers will be able to direct message brands even if the brand doesn't follow that person back yet. This is beneficial for brands because they can reach a wider range of consumers. Brands can also DM potential customers who do not follow them yet. The company suggests brands to use this new option to their full advantage to increase consumer engagement as well as strengthen the relationship with customers.

Many Companies Join Fortune 500 Companies in Using Instagram

Many Fortune 500 companies, such as Nike, Starbucks, and Apple, have started using Instagram to build their brands. Christy Ferer recommends other companies to join them in Instagram marketing. Sabel Harris, the lead marketing maven at TrackMaven, an analysis firm that shows how the Fortune 500 companies are using Instagram, suggests three tips for brands that want to use Instagram:

1.     Post Videos. A video on Instagram can get up to 24 interactions on average.

2.     Several hashtags are effective. According to data, for bigger brands,  4-11 hashtags can increase up to on average 77 interactions per Instagram post.

3.     Posting schedule should be 24/7. Users are on instagram all hours of the day. Ferer thinks that brands should use this to their advantage to decide when they post, based on who their audience is.
